The first major season of Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022 will not take place. The developers announced this on Steam.
Valve representatives noted that the situation with the coronavirus does not allow to gather all players in one place. Points, which should have been played at the tournament, will be distributed between the second and third majors. The points earned for the regional rounds will be awarded to the teams upon completion.
“While hopes were high that we could host an international LAN event, the discovery and spread of new strains of COVID-19 and the resulting increase of travel restrictions has made it unfeasible for all qualified teams to gather for a LAN tournament,” said Valve.
