Battlefield 2042

DICE plans to create “connected Battlefield universe”

It was reported that DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson is leaving his post, and Vince Zampella from Respawn Entertainment has become the new boss of the Battlefield franchise.

Rebecca Kutaz, the former head of Ubisoft Annecy, will take Gabrielson’s place. It also became known that the studio of Marcus Lehto, designer of Halo, will be engaged in the expansion and improvement of Battlefield 2042.

Lehto’s studio, DICE and Ripple Effect, responsible for the Portal mode in Battlefield 2042, will work on creating a “connected Battlefield universe” – no further details so far.  The developers plan to expand the Battlefield 2042 narrative and lay the foundation for “storytelling opportunities now and in the future.”

It is also worth noting that Ripple Effect will not stop working on supporting Portal mode, but the studio cannot comment on its new responsibilities yet.
