Developer GSC Game World has officially delayed the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The team needs extra time for the final polish of the game. Fans now have to wait almost a year for the new date of the shooter. After the first rumors about a possible release delay of Stalker 2 circulated on Tuesday, the GSC Game World team made the later date official with a message to the fans.
This is the new release date of Stalker 2
The developers need even more time for the shooter and will now only release the game on December 8, 2022 for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Stalker 2 appears almost seven months after the originally planned date. The insider also assumed an earlier release in the leak. There was talk of a release in October 2022 at the latest. Fans have to bring a lot of patience with them.
What do the developers say about the delay in Stalker 2?
GSC Game World made a statement on Twitter about the new date. It states:
“Stalkers, we have made the decision to delay the release of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl to December 8, 2022. These additional seven months of development time are needed to fulfill our vision for the game.”
“Stalker 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC and it needs testing and finishing touches. We believe that developments should take as long as necessary – especially with a project like this. It’s not an easy decision, but we give it our best to bring you a game that meets your expectations.”
More Stalker 2 updates throughout the year
However, GSC Game World will not disappear completely from the scene. Instead, more updates and gameplay presentations are planned for this year. Stalker 2 is currently being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play the title right at launch.
