Blizzard and Vicarious Visions have announced the next major patch, 2.4 for Diablo II: Resurrected. Players will get the long-awaited ranked mode, as well as a bunch of class balance fixes and much more.
Ladder Rank system from Diablo II
As in the original Diablo II, the so-called Ladder Rank will include four modes:
- Standard Ladder – a normal ranked game mode that provides for completing four campaign acts;
- Hardcore Ladder – a ranked game mode with one life, including the finishing of four campaign acts;
- Standard Expansion Ladder – a casual ranked game mode, which comprises the completing of five campaign acts, including the content of the Lord of Destruction expansion;
- Hardcore Expansion Ladder – a ranked game mode with one life- comprises five campaign acts, including content from the Lord of Destruction expansion.
By participating in ranked modes, players will unlock new Rune Words. These Rune Words will be unique to Diablo II: Resurrected. As with the original Diablo II, the new Rune Words will not be used in non-Ladder mode. At the end of the Ladder season, characters who have collected unique words from the runes will switch to the non-ranked game mode. Then, in the next Ladder season, players will have to create new characters and start earning new rewards, developing from the very beginning.
The duration of each Ladder season is not defined yet, as the developers’ team is trying to find the perfect balance.
Vicarious Visions will make changes to all existing classes and their skills. According to the developers, this will diversify the progression of characters and give players more freedom without changing the unique properties and roles of classes. Less popular skills will be improved: assessing casting delays, making tooltip quality-of-life change.
Mercenaries tweaks in Diablo II: Resurrected
In addition, based on players’ feedback, Vicarious Visions have decided to improve Mercenaries in Diablo II: Resurrected so that players can use more than just the Desert Mercenary. The creators of the game will boost their skills and attributes.
There will also be new recipes for the Horadric Cube, new Rune Words, and armour sets will also be changed.
Update 2.4 will first be released on the game’s public test server.
Diablo II: Resurrected is available on PC, PS and Xbox, and Switch.
